  • GamCare GamCare offers free information, support and counselling for problem gamblers in the UK. It runs the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) and also offers face-to-face counselling.
  • Gambling Help NSW is a free, confidential service that assists gamblers and their families in NSW. It includes a range of therapeutic, financial counselling, and support services that can be accessed by phone, online, and face-to-face. All services are free and confidential.

Multicultural services refers to the mental health programs and services provided for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people in the Nepean Blue Mountains region. There are a number of programs and services that provide information, support and translating services to people from multicultural backgrounds in areas relating to mental and physical health and drugs and alcohol.

Drug and Alcohol Multicultural Education Centre (DAMEC)

The Drug and Alcohol Multicultural Education Centre (DAMEC) works to reduce the harm associated with the use of alcohol and other drugs within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in New South Wales.

Nepean Multicultural Access Inc. is a non-government organisation which provides information and settlement services to migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants during the first 5 years after their arrival in Australia. NSW Refugee Health Service

The NSW Refugee Health Service aims to protect and promote the health of refugees and people of refugee-like backgrounds living in NSW.

The service:

  • educates health service providers on refugee health and related issues;
  • acts as a link between agencies working with refugees and health services;
  • provides targeted health promotion programs for refugees
  • provides medical assessments and referrals through GP clinics, particularly for recent arrivals;

Settlement Services International (SSI) provides a range of services in the areas of refugee settlement, migrant support services, asylum seeker assistance, housing, multicultural foster care, disability support, employment services and youth support. Transcultural Mental Health Centre

The Transcultural Mental Health Centre provides services to people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities experiencing a mental health issue who are linked to a Local Health District mental health service, such as hospital or community mental health service. Their services include:

  • Information and consultation about mental health and cultural issues.
  • Information about government and non-government health and welfare services for people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Clinical intervention using bilingual clinicians for individuals and families who are connected with a NSW Health mental health service.
  • The service is free and is available to individuals, families, children, young people, adults and older people who have been referred by their local mental health team.

Mental health professionals from public mental health services can contact their Information and Clinical Consultation and Assessment Service to discuss making a referral.

A Translating and Interpreter Service (TIS) for people who do not speak English. The operator connects a person to an interpreter who speaks in their language and explains one's enquiry. They provide:

Bar yourself from a venue (self-exclusion)

Self-exclusion is a program that enables people to bar themselves from entering hotels, clubs and casinos in NSW or just the gaming areas of the nominated venue/s. It is a requirement that all NSW venue operators have a self-exclusion program.

You do not need to approach a venue directly to enter into a self-exclusion agreement. For support with the self-exclusion process, you can speak to a Gambling Help counsellor near you. To locate a counsellor, visit the Gambling Help website.
